M.J.G. (Mary Jane Girls)
Here's a hint...their music makes you want to listen to them "All Night Long" and make "Wild and Crazy Love." You guessed it! We're talking about the "Mary Jane Girls." The most sampled female group in the history of music. JoJo, Maximilian, and Candi, the original members of the group, are now known as "M.J.G." This platinum charting group with top songs such as "In My House," "All Night Long," and "Wild and Crazy Love" have an unmistakable sound heard world wide. Rick James, the "King of Punk Funk" created the group and signed them with Motown, the same company that launched his career. The huge success of "M.J.G." enabled standing-room-only international tours 1983 and 1985, numerous television and public appearances, such as the American Music Awards, Grammy's, MTV, VHl, Soul Train...etc., also filled their agenda! The 1990's has brought continued success for the group by performing with Rap superstars, "Ice Cube," "Redman," and "Mack 10." Also, LL Cool J, Mary J. Blige, Heavy D, and Big Daddy Kane are just a few of the recording artists that have sampled the music of M.J.G.. The 1994 Motown release, "The Very Best of the Mary Jane Girls," is climbing the charts around the world. As you can see, Candi, Maximilian, and JoJo are still the "flava" of music past, present, and future.
