Dick Capen's career represents a unique blend of diplomacy and newspaper publishing, high-lighted by tours as United States Ambassador to Spain and chairman and publisher of Knight Ridder's flagship newspaper, The Miami Herald received five Pulitzer prizes and was selected twice by Time magazine and by Advertising Age as one of the nation's top ten dailies. In addition, Capen led efforts to start El Neuvo Herald which is now the largest and most successful Spanish language daily in the United States. In 1991, he left the newspaper business to devote more time to his work as an author and speaker on personal values essential to life.
