A fiery R&B belter steeped in gospel, Kim Weston is better known for her duet work with Marvin Gaye ("It Takes Two," a 1966 hit, is the classic example) than her solo outings. On her own, she did dent the charts with "Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While)," "Helpless," and "Love Me All the Way." There were also some fine numbers that didn't click on the charts but were nonetheless noteworthy, like Smokey Robinson's "Looking For the Right Guy" and the powerful "A Thrill a Moment." After leaving the Motown fold in 1967, Weston recorded for MGM, Volt, and more recently for Ian Levine's MotorCity label.
