Contact Crazy Wolf Entertainment to book Satin Doll Trio
Satin Doll Trio
The Satin Doll Trio is an elegant ensemble renowned for their excellence in the intimate "supper club jazz" style that was popularized during the early 1950's by artists such as Julie London, Sarah Vaughan, and Peggy Lee. Their musical interests are firmly rooted classic American standard jazz songs of the period. They have appeared on the stages of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Corcoran Gallery's Armand Hammer Auditorium, and have made television appearances on the BET Jazz programs "Jazz Central" and "Impressions". Since forming the group in 1997 they have remained consummate performers making more than two hundred appearances annually at prestigious venues throughout the Washington D.C. area and Eastern United States. The group has received exceptional reviews from the Washington Post, the Washington Times, and from JazzReview.com.

Satin Doll Trio's vocalist Patrice Ferris's greatest strength lies in her innate ability to connect with her material and communicate that intimacy with the listener. In a review of the trio's second release "I'm Glad There Is You", the Washington Post wrote that, "she always places her considerable talent at the service of the song, making the words count and the moods linger", while JazzReview.com called her phrasing "spot-on and creative" as Patrice puts her own personal stamp on songs like "Easy Street", "Nevertheless", and "Rock Me To Sleep". Patrice has graced the cover of Washington Flyer magazine, as the magazines pick for "Best In Show", and most recently, the front cover of Volume V of THE WORLD WHO'S WHO IN JAZZ, CABARET, MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT, who called her the best trio singer of 2007.

Patrice is solidly accompanied by guitarist Ken Kilpatrick, a native of upstate New York, and bassist Fred Ferris, a Washington D.C. native, who have both been part of the D.C. areas music scene for the past twenty years. While attending American University guitarist Ken Kilpatrick studied music theory, jazz improvisation, and was a member of the American University Jazz Band. He has spent his musical career studying the guitar styles of guitarists such as Oscar Moore, Charlie Christen, Barney Kessel, and Howard Roberts. Bassist Fred Ferris studied engineering at Johns Hopkins University but also jazz improvisation, music theory, and has trained with well-known bassists such as John Previti and Myke Lyons.

Mahogany, the Artist
For the eyes of a man...for the hearts of a woman...for all to hear. Mahogany is going to captivate you with all she has to offer. This artist is a very talented vocalist, arranger, songwriter, producer, and musician. These are qualities not often found among WOMEN in the music industry.

Candace "Mahogany" Miller was born in the heart of Texas. She was raised in a God fearing family where music was an intricate part of everyday life. Mahogany has been a musician all her life. She has been trained in several areas of the performing arts including vocal, theatrical, dance, and instrumental instruction. Because of her strong focus, business mind and creative talent, she has been blessed with the opportunity to work with some of the industry's finest and most successful producers and songwriters. Mahogany recently featured with the Slumpmasters (Dallas, Big Aziz and Mr. Massivo) on the sound track for movie You Got Served. Mahogany's sound is unique. She is currently exploring the world of jazz and is developing what she calls “The New Swing”. Hip-hop be-bop in 5/4 and ghetto big band tunes has created a dashingly attractive spin on the standard style jazz of the Greats. Her vocal arrangements and writing are designed to bring you into the song and carry you through to the sweet end. As a writer/producer, Mahogany has embraced all ends of the musical spectrum. She has successful written and collaborated on pieces ranging in styles such as Gospel, Country, Rock, Hip-hop Pop, R&B and Jazz. Her love for all music brings a slightly different texture to her sound. You may find a lot of soul, a bit of a laid back jazzy swing, and even folk in her music.

Julie Hardy - Jazz vocalist
Grammy award winning writer, Bob Blumenthal describes Julie Hardy as "...a singer with admirable intonation and time, excellent taste, and feeling well beyond her years." Julie is a vocalist who is on her way to becoming one of the most important voices in today's jazz scene. With a voice that contains an element of romance and a hint of seductiveness, she delivers a diverse program of timeless standards and creative arrangements of pop classics.

Julie Hardy is "...a singer well equipped to handle everything modern jazz vocalism demands: candlelit standards ("My Romance"), repurposed pop hits ("And I Love Him"), effortless improvisation and a strong writer's pen,” proclaims Time Out New York. She carefully chooses repertoire based on a strong, personal connection and her goal is to tell a story. "My music is from the heart and I care about the lyrics, so when people hear me, I hope they feel this and are touched." With a warm demeanor and timeless beauty, she captivates and enthralls audiences nationwide.

Julie is backed by a spectacular collection of some of New York's best young jazz talents including Jaleel Shaw (alto saxophone), John Ellis (soprano and tenor saxophones), Randy Ingram (piano), Matt Clohesy (bass), and Kendrick Scott (drums). Collectively they have performed with jazz luminaries such as Roy Haynes, Terence Blanchard, John Scofield, Charlie Hunter, Christian McBride, Maria Schneider, Nicholas Payton, and Dianne Reeves.

In 2005, Julie’s debut release "A Moment's Glance" (Fresh Sound New Talent) opened the ears of jazz fans around the world to Julie's potential and captured the attention of the jazz world’s most respected critics. Jazz Times says, "..ingenious covers...and perspicacious originals...Hardy lives, like [Kurt] Elling and [Bobby] McFerrin, in a musical world of her own, and it is a marvelously dynamic place." Julie celebrated this disc’s release with a full house at the Jazz Standard in New York City in April 2005. Later that year, she was selected to perform at the Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival at Jazz at Lincoln Center. In addition to the Jazz Standard and Jazz at Lincoln Center she has performed at Sweet Rhythm, Birdland, Smoke, Cornelia Street Café, and 55 Bar among others.

Julie grew up in Fremont, New Hampshire and started to sing at a very young age, improvising and writing her own songs. She began to study classical piano at age 9. She was introduced to jazz in high school and attended the University of New Hampshire, where she studied both classical and jazz composition as well as piano and voice. She received a scholarship to attend the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, which allowed Julie to expand her musical horizons even further. She received her Masters in Jazz Performance in 2001.

Contact Crazy Wolf Entertainment to book Vibhas - Native Flutes, Soprano Sax and Piano
Vibhas - Native Flutes, Soprano Sax and Piano
Vibhas is a multi-instrumentalist who has created a unique style of music. Classical training in Germany in piano and flute, studies in Latin percussion and soprano saxophone, and many years playing Native flutes in India and America have all been influential in creating the original sound he plays today. His travels around the world brought him to Sedona, Arizona where he was introduced to the haunting sound of the Navajo Indian flutes. Playing them to a background of Jazz harmonies and Latin rhythms creates a trance-like atmosphere of relaxation and well being.

Vibhas strength is versatility. He plays his original piano solos with a classical touch, his fingers running over the keys like a soft cool breeze in summer. With the keyboard accompaniment, Vibhas is free to play haunting melodies on the Indian flutes, or smooth jazz arrangements with the soprano sax.

Vibhas is available to play for dinner parties, weddings, and special events.
