Sandy HackettSandy Hackett
If laughter is the best medicine, then Sandy Hackett is a Surgeon. At the tender age of 11, Sandy made his debut on “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In.” At 15, he performed before 3,000 people at New York’s Westbury Music Fair, and then made his debut on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Then promptly launched himself into the world of show business and stand-up comedy.

Young Hackett honed his comedic skills on stage at the famed Casbar lounge of the Sahara Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Sandy was a natural, but, like many offspring of well-known personalities, he had to prove himself. “It was never easy,” he says. “Everybody expected me to be great. I wasn’t at first, but it was always my goal.” Sandy improved quickly and before long was working the Playboy and national Comedy Club circuit. He got additional seasoning getting up anywhere and anytime he could in front of a crowd. A casting director for CBS saw Sandy and hired him for a TV pilot. Sandy fell in love with acting and soon landed a featured role in “Hot Dog…the Movie.” This was followed up with a role in “Cannonball Run II” and then a starring role in “Hamburger…the Motion Picture,”

Although known primarily as a comedian, Sandy has had several dramatic roles in the films “Jack of Hearts,” “Lovers & Liars” and “Ex-Cop.” In 1998, he played District Attorney Martin Siegel in the acclaimed PBS series, “On Common Ground.” Sandy’s next film was also a drama, “The S.I.N.,” in which he starred as private detective Bud Chelzer. As the millennium ended, the versatile entertainer even appeared, singing and dancing, in a new musical holiday spectacular “TWAS.” Sandy also starred as the host of “Make Your Own Luck,” a nationally televised gaming infomercial. In 2005 Sandy added three more films to his resume with roles in The Indie-Pendant, Down & Derby with the late Pat Morita, and Miss Congeniality II. He is also the voice of “Can” in a new animated project for 2007 “Jim & Can.”

Sandy’s one-hour nightly Las Vegas-based TV talk show was an immediate success. Syndication took the show national. He hosted his own weekly radio and television shows, broadcast from Las Vegas and airing nationally until the tragic events of 9-11. Looking for his next project, Sandy was tabbed to host the pilot for football’s newest show - “WISEGUYS” on national radio. “WISEGUYS” featured top NFL experts, surprise guests and Sandy of course - maintaining control!

Sandy has entertained audiences in just about every venue imaginable, from main showrooms in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, to those in Canada, Mexico and even New Zealand. As an entrepreneur, he has owned and run Comedy Clubs in Laughlin’s Golden Nugget and Gold River Hotel/Casinos, as well as at the Stardust in Las Vegas. He also produces various entertainment events for Del Webb Sun City Communities around the country. Currently, “Sandy Hackett’s Comedy Club” is at home in the Celebrity Room at the Greek Isles Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
