grüvology moods, grooves + walter kemp III, keys efferin fuse, electric bass bernard kunz, guitars, oud, loops the band was founded in may of 2006 as the result of a duo performance by walter kemp and bernard kunz at café allegro in buffalo, ny. efferin fuse was invited to a rehearsal and became a member of the band. the name grüvology was decided in the beginning of august 06. the name grüvology represents our expression of modern jazz and worldbeat grooves. our repertoire includes a mixture of standard tunes and various worldbeat inspired original compositions. a strong focus is on the groove with or without a drummer. walter kemp III took piano lessons from the age of 6 to 13. later he became a drummer until he went to virginia union university, where he completed his studies in mathematics. upon his return to buffalo at the age of 23 he began playing keys. with a desire to play gospel and jazz he began piano lessons at music city. after several months of piano lessons he took on his first job with the 80s reflex band. now he is being coached by local teacher bobby jones. his influences are his background in gospel music and classics. his passion is to present music with technique and integrity. efferin fuse started playing bass in 1997 with inspirations from local bass players calvin palmer, christopher bowman and jerry livingston. In 1998 he studied music at villa maria college under james kurzdorfer. he met drummer tim webb at villa maria, who provided much encouragement to progress as a bass player. grüvology - info p.2 from that point on he played with various musicians who helped develop his musical insight. in 1999 he was hired as the main bassplayer at calvary baptist church. from then on it has been his conscious decision to constantly evolve as an artist and musician and to play music that is inspiring to others. bernard kunz started piano lessons in 4th grade but switched to mostly guitar in 7th. his interest was in jazz especially groups such as chick corea and the mahavishnu orchestra. his major influences are the mid sixties miles davis groups, david murray, john coltrane and guitarists jim hall, john scofield and pat metheny. he teaches guitar with love supreme school of music and privately. his aim is to experience music from all over the world and to incorporate these influences in his compositions and improvisations
