What’s goin’ on is eric sommer... a guitar player who has remained under the radar for the past 5 years but who is now emerging as an important urban poet, and an accomplished songwriter with a vocal style all his own... and a slide style echoing the great traditional styles of David Bromberg and Johnny Winter.

Eric Sommer grew up in Boston, a fixture in the guitar clubs on Charles Street, and a regular in Harvard Square where he played guitar at every opportunity, playing with anyone and any band who would let him sit in... With such a commitment to live performance it should come as no surprise that eric sommer has been a part of some great music and played on tours with many of the best: the cars, john mayall, little feat and lowell george, buddy guy, dave van ronk, david bromberg, leon redbone, the dead kennedy’s, john hammond, randy hanson, wreckless eric, brahm tschaikovsky, the byrds, dr. john, spider john koerner and many, many more.

So what does a guitar player do? Play out. Tour. Make music anywhere and at every opportunity. And eric sommer has been doing just that: touring relentlessly and playing rooms up and down the east coast for the past 18 months; and now eric sommer is branching out and playing small house concerts around the country as well as playing festivals, outdoor events and small rock rooms. The emphasis, according to manager tim masters, is on the small and intimate instead of the large and impersonal. He did 270 shows in 2006 and is on track to keep that scjedule well into 2008.

As an accomplished solo singer/songwriter, and as one of the premier acoustic guitar players touring today, eric sommer is building a dedicated, loyal and vocal fan base up and down the east coast... from Boston to Austin and beyond. Part urban poet, part guitar virtuoso and part vocal stylist, eric sommer brings an added dimension to any music venue.

And it works... is working. Part of the fun is that it works on a visual level as well as the audio - in fact, when the show sets up, it’s a visual valhalla for most guitar players and the pure acoustic afficionados. Since much of the material requires a few different guitar tunings, the set up is balanced and visually stunning with 3 beautiful Taylor guitars - the 41O Koa series, the 814 dread nought, a 915 Concert Series with remarkable pearl inlay up and down the neck and a vintage 1969 Fender Telecaster which has the original Bigsby tremelo bar. A classic. Framing this collection are two sea-foam green Jay Jr. guitars from Tomah, WI...

Standing in the middle of this musical toyland eric sommer works his unique brand of guitar magic and brings a cool, and memorable combo of acoustic ballads, flashy slide guitar and trademark urban rock to any show... and is a powerful addition to any venue.
