The diversified and highly acclaimed career of Sam Harris has run the gamut from Singer and Songwriter to Actor on Broadway and television to Writer and Director.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, Sam first splashed into the public eye as the Grand Champion of Star Search in its premiere season. His phenomenal "overnight" rise catapulted him into the recording industry, where he sold over a million copies of both Sam Harris and Sam-I-Am, which he also produced.

Sam has toured the country in concert and has played to sold-out audiences at Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheater and London's West End.

He wrote the TBS sit-com, Down to Earth, which ran for 4 years and also penned the Los Angeles produced musicals Hurry! Hurry! Hollywood! (which he directed) and Hard Copy ; receiving myriad awards.

Sam has made appearances on numerous television shows and specials and in countless live productions, working with many great names in the entertainment industry like Stevie Wonder, George Michael, Liza Minnelli, Madonna and Elizabeth Taylor...just to name a few. He has been seen on virtually every talk show and interviewed by people like Leno, Oprah, Rosie, Geraldo, Jane Paulyand Barbara Walters.

In the theatre, Sam has starred in such shows as the Cy Coleman musical, The Life, (for which he received a Drama-League Award as well as Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critic's Circle award nominations), Jesus Christ Superstar, Cabaret, Hard Copy, Tommy Tune's Grease (which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination) and an extensive National Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Sam's most recent recordings include the critically acclaimed Standard Time -- produced, arranged and conducted by the legendary Peter Matz.

Sam is currently rehearsing for his upcoming staring role of Al Jolson in The Jazz Singer on Broadway. He is also working on his next CD to be released in late 1998 near the Broadway premiere.
