SLADE have a phenomenal worldwide track record in the pop music business!

In a period covering three decades of hit recordings “Slade” have featured in the charts for no less than 271 weeks, which in turn has resulted in six No 1 singles, thirteen top 5 singles, sixteen top 10 singles, twenty two top 20 singles, plus 5 smash hit albums.

Slade are a pop legend, their songs, records, image and many television appearances have left an indelible imprint on the record buying public….. and due to public demand, the show goes on!

The legend that was to become Slade was instigated when David Hill first sowed his musical seed in the mid-sixties by teaming up with Don Powell’s band, The Vendors. Success wasn’t instantaneous, but when the hits began to come it was like a torrential flood that resulted in gold and silver discs and worldwide success and fame.

Dave Hill has always been instantly recognisable through his flambouyant style of dress and on-stage performance, while Don’s style of dynamic and energetic drumming has been as much a trademark of Slade as has the ongoing success of such classic hit records as “MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY”.

In 1993, in response to demand for tours of Austria, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Poland and Australia, Slade co-founder members Dave Hill and Don Powell decided to invite three talented musicians of excellent pedigree to join the band, the new members are:

Steve Whalley (lead vocals and guitar), who has appeared with such artistes as Chuck Berry, Gerry Rafferty and Barbara Dickson. Steve’s powerful vocals and bluesy guitar chops take Slade musically onto a higher plateau.

Craig Fenney (bass guitar and vocals), has been a professional musician now for several years, his previous band was the highly successful Midland outfit “The Red Beards of Texas”.

Steve Makin (guitar and vocals), Steve’s reputation as a guitarist was already firmly established. Now, as a writer, his songs have been recorded by Brian May of “Queen” and four of his tracks will feature on drummer Cosy Powell’s album.

So! The legend and the magic will continue to live on as SLADE carry their own special image and style of music on into what is now the third decade of European and Worldwide success.
