William Safire is a reporter, public relations expert, historian, novelist, lexicographer, and political columnist. After writing a column for The New York Herald Tribune and reporting for several New York radio and television stations, Mr. Safire worked on the first Eisenhower presidential campaign and later became a senior speechwriter in the Nixon White House. His many books include Before the Fall, Safire’s New Political Dictionary, Full Disclosure, Sleeper Spy, and Lend Me Your Ears. As a political columnist, he has written a twice-weekly column in The New York Times for more than 20 years. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Distinguished Commentary, and is a member of the Pulitzer Board.
