Led by Christpher "Free Sől" Anderson, Memphis-based Free Sől was organized in the fall of 2002. After winning the 2003 Mid-South GRAMMY Showcase, Free Sől quickly solidified itself as one of the most eclectic and original collectives around. With a sound rooted in hip-hop, Free Sől masterfully blends elements of jazz, funk, rock, and soul to create one kick-ass flava! At the same time, this unconventional mix makes it almost impossible to pigeonhole the band into one musical genre....but that's the beauty of it! Free Sől is on a mission to deliver REAL music that looks past commercialism and allows one to listen, question, agree, disagree, and find deeper meaning through the fusion of great artistry and high-energy performances.

Speaking of performances, on stage, Free Sől has a presence that is simply intoxicating! Despite their relatively brief history, the band has already performed at some of the best venues and festivals in the country: the Beale Street Music Festival (Memphis 10), The Pyramid (Memphis 10), The Rock Boat (Carnival Cruise from Miami to Mexico), Tipitina’s (New Orleans, LA), and the Fox Theatre (Boulder, CO) are just a few venues of note. Plus, Free Sől has had the wonderful opportunity to share the stage with acts like Isaac Hayes, Erykah Badu, The Wailers, Van Hunt, and the Foo Fighters! And rest assured, they’ve held their own each and every time!! So the moral of the story is...DON'T SLEEP Y'ALL, because Free Sől is coming to set the world on fiyah!!!
