Archie Bell was only ten when he began singing professionally. In junior high school, he formed a group called the DRELLS, which won practically every talent show they entered. They were soon discovered by a local Houston D.J., who helped with their hit, Tighten Up. Their record went gold.
Later, after changing their name to Archie Bell and the DRELLS, they produced popular hits such as I Can't Stop Dancing, There's Going to be a Showdown, and Girl, You're Too Young. Later releases included Dance Your Troubles Away, Where Will You Go When The Party Is Over, Hard Not to Like It, and Strategy. The group stayed on the charts year after year.
