Steve Fox
After releasing two albums of original material (the first through Quantum Records, and the second through True North/Sony which won him a Juno nomination for "Best Male Vocalist"), Fox's songwriting ability caught the interest of Nashville publishers. His sensitive, provocative writing crosses between and edgy "alt.country" and folk. This past year found Fox co-writing in Nashville with some of Canada's best, as well as working in the studio with artists ranging from Michelle Wright to Charlie Daniels. Fox showcased in Toronto, Calgary (CCMA) and Nashville in 1998 (where his performance during the Chet Atkins Musicians Days was filmed for "Keeping the Music Alive", a television special which will be broadcast on Bravo! (U.S.) in March), and in February '99 at the Folk Alliance Conference in Albuquerque, NM. In September of this year, Fox's appearance at Canada's Country Music Week in Ottawa knocked the socks off the audience, and landed Fox a signing with Key Entertainment Agency, who are now busy booking the heck out of this popular performer. Steve's CD was also picked up for distribution by Oasis through our good friends Ed Harris and J.D. May at Dead Reckoning. Steve's showcases caught the attention of numerous concert and festival presenters, and you can expect to see Fox on the circuit this summer. Modest and genuine, Fox has a certain magnetism ~ when he walks into a room, he changes it. With an open nature and an infectious sense of humour, Steve's stage presence is electrifying and his musicianship has earned him the admiration of his peers.
