Nothing drives success like talent and ambition, two qualities that are evident in Carlos Ponce, a young artist who is taking the entertainment industry by storm! Carlos has made an indelible mark in Hispanic entertainment, first as an actor and host and now as a singer and songwriter. It is his aptness and versatility which have made him successful at his professional endeavors, but it is his charisma which has established him as a favorite among today's Latin artists.

Carlos was born on September 4, 1972 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Restless and hyperactive by nature, he demonstrated his passion for the arts at a very early age. His first television appearance was in a commercial in his native Island at the age of six. After moving to Miami in 1986, Carlos began studying musical theater and exercising his learned skills on stage in several plays while he was still a student. During this time he won several awards and musical theater scholarships to some of the most prestigious universities in the US.

By the age of 18, Carlos had appeared in various commercials for Latin America and soon, landed a supporting role in the novela, "Guadalupe," playing the role of Willy. This debut opened doors for him to audiences in the US, Latin America and Europe. At the conclusion of the "novela," in 1994, Carlos became the host and Associate Producer of "Control," a weekly show broadcast by the Univision Television Network. While he hosted the show, Carlos continued dreaming about his ultimate goal: to debut as a singer. But this dream would have to wait.

In 1996 Carlos had his first starring role, playing Renato in the nighttime drama, "Sentimientos Ajenos," which broke audience record levels in the US and Mexico.

After years of pursuing his dream to sing, the opportunity finally presented itself in 1997 when Carlos signed on with the recording label, EMI Latin. After one year of preparing and recording, Carlos presents his self-titled album. With this new phase in his career as singer and songwriter, Carlos has become a truly complete artist. Under the production and direction of Emilio Estefan, Jr., and backed up by EMI Latin, Carlos released the album in June. Some of the songs are written by Carlos, while others are from such renowned songwriters as Kike Santander and Marco Flores, among others. The songs are an eclectic mix of romantic ballads, pop and up-tempo tunes.

Three weeks after its debut, the first single, "Rezo" became number one on the Billboard charts. His follow-up single, "Decir Adiós" also reached the number one slot on Billboard magazine's "Hot Latin Tracks" within weeks of its release. In addition, Carlos Ponce, the album has been certified Double Platinum in the US and Gold in Argentina, Venezuela and Central America.
