Paula Poundstone's insightful musings about the world around her have been catching on like a house afire…she tells the truth and makes it funny. About her life as she lives it, about our public figures and about the little things in life we may have noticed ourselves but never stopped to reflect on. Whether she's talking about politics or Pop Tarts, Paula puts her own unique spin on the subject at hand and she's become one of the foremost topical humorists working today. Paula's show does not contain an intermission or an opening act. Total running time is between 90-120 minutes. Extended Bio: Paula Poundstone is one of the most original and imaginative comedians in the country today. Choosing honesty and her own off-kilter world view over the usual gender-biased topics of relationships, diets, men, or sex, Paula is among a handful of comics who came to prominence in the comedy-wild '80s and was still standing when the craze finally ended. Her offbeat interpretations of everyday life, including the peaks and valleys of parenting, come from her own experiences and have led to an ever-increasing list of accomplishments.

She's won an American Comedy Award as Best Female Stand-up, two CableACE Awards, and a local Emmy. Her television work includes numerous appearances on "The Tonight Show" and "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," among others, and starring in her own award-winning comedy specials. She is also the voice of "Judge Stone" on the acclaimed animated series "Squigglevision," which airs on ABC's Saturday morning line-up. In addition, Paula has just been tapped to write her first book for Crown. And, of course, she continues to crisscross the country with her singular brand of live performances at concert venues and colleges. As she so aptly puts it, "I'm just amazed that what I got thrown out of class for, I now get paid to do. The same thing could be said by criminals, I suppose."

A talented writer as well, Paula wrote the "Poundstone Report" in Mother Jones from March/April '93 through May/June '98, covering a broad base of topics. She learned the basics of government from former Sen. Paul Simon while enjoying rides at an amusement park ("Senator Simon is too much of a gentleman to be president. When I offered him five bucks to shove a kid off a ride, he didn't even consider it.") She exposed the folly of the recent cigar craze ("I love the smell of cigars. It reminds me of my grandpa just before he died.") And she pondered the state of children's books today ("I often wonder if my perpetual sense of impending doom was caused by those Dick and Jane books we were forced to read as kids.")

Other publications she's written for include the Los Angeles Times Sunday Calendar, Entertainment Weekly, and Buzz Magazine, among others. A frequent contributor of both her time and talents to various causes, she participates in the annual Comic Relief benefits aiding the homeless, is one of the comedians featured in the recent "Comic Relief" book, and works for the organization off-camera in a variety of fund-raising events.
