The Tubes featuring Fee Waybill
Notorious for their outrageous adults-only state-of-the-art rock theater shows, The Tubes leaped from the San Francisco underground to world infamy with the release of their debut album The Tubes (A&M Records). Tubes classics like "White Punks On Dope," "Mondo Bondage" and Backwards Principle ("Talk To Ya Later", "Sushi Girl"), Outside Inside ("She's A Beauty"), and Love Bomb ("Piece By Piece") that established The Tubes as a certified commercial force. The Tubes were, and remain, the same tongue-in-cheeks pranksters, creating legendary shows that continue to be electrifying and thought-provoking. Now, armed with a renewed spirit, The Tubes are back full-force with their new album, Genius Of America. A purely contemporary album, Genius Of America serves up a prickly set of sharp alternative rock compositions. Highlights include the title track Genius of America (a social commentary on American marketing ingenuity), Fish House (oceanic pollution), Big Brother, (providing the necessary not to The Tubes legacy-reminiscent of Talk To Ya Later), and the powerful rock ballad How Can You Live With Yourself (which was co-written by Richard Marx who also sang the background vocal. | ||||||||
