"I think it's for this kind of generation," explains Deryck Whibley, singer and guitarist for Toronto's Sum 41. "Kids can kind of relate to it, and they want to do that kind of thing."

Deryck ought to know. With an average age of 17, this band relates to a generation where music is governed by catchy hooks and energetic drive. Reminiscent of early Green Day, Sum 41's in-your-face approach is best experienced through their phenomenal live show, where intensity and energy reign.

Considering their age, one cannot help but think that the members of Sum 41 are in over their head. Perhaps they need time to develop and tone their style. But Deryck is confident that now is the time to seize the opportunity. "There's so many bands that can write catchy songs. You have to have something more. Right now, our big thing is our age. That's our extra plus. It's a big boost over other bands."

But all this would not have been possible without the help of some good people. After acquiring a strong personal connection towards Deryck and his music, Treble Charger's Greig Nori decided to manage the band. "He's my best friend," explains Deryck. "He's made me a better person. He's helped me learn how to write songs, and learn how to sing."

The combination on Sum 41's talent, attitude, and connections has them looking forward to good things. If nature takes its course and everything goes as planned, then this band is on track for a very good year.
