Bullfrog - a collaboration between singer/songwriter/guitarist Mark Robertson, rapper/MC BluRum 13, DJ Kid Koala (Gorillaz, Deltron 3030), bassist Peter Santiago, drummer Massimo Sansalone and vocalist/percussionist Joanna Peters - shines on "Bullfrog" with a cunning combination of upbeat melodies, an explosively funky rhythm section and a light-heartedly sardonic sense of humor. BluRum 13 vigorously urges audiences not to dance and to remain quiet on the witty "Reverse Psychology," and proves himself to be an affable MC on the live interludes interspersed throughout the album. Koala's tasteful scratching and sampling highlight songs like "A-B-A-B-A" and "Snakeskin"; he peppers tracks like "Massimo's Wild Wilderness" and "Extra Track II" with offbeat conversational tidbits, and even loops a synthesized croaking sound on the eponymous "Bullfrog Theme."
