Bob Danzilo is a Brooklyn born singer/songwriter who writes his acoustic music
in what would be described Alternative Country/Americana genre. Although his earlier musicalroots were inspired by the Beatles and other British invasion bands, it wasn't long
before the influences of the folk music scene caught his attention. Although
originally a drummer/singer for the Backbeats, a local Brooklyn band, Bob was
influenced by the sound and music of Neil Diamond, Gordon Lightfoot , Harry
Chapin and John Stewart. He switched to guitar to accompany his vocals and as
a tool for his songwriting, and translated much of his percussive abilities to his
rhythm guitar. He made his first early appearances performing in New York folk
venues like Pip's , and Greenwich Village's Folk City and The Back Fence. When
he came to Cincinnati in the late 70's, he built his local reputation at the city's
Blind Lemon Cafe and appeared on local TV shows (like Bob Braun, Attic Inc.)
and opened for more mainstream acts like Phoebe Snow and Randy Newman at
Bogart's, an area showcase. Over the years, Bob has had opportunity to travel
extensively both in and out of the US. This eclectic lifestyle has given him a
broad spectrum of experience, and forms the foundation of material for his
original compositions, which are partly autobiographical, partly fiction and are
mostly shaped as story songs. Bob's sets are both entertaining and interesting,
mixing a rich vocal style with full rhythm guitar and a wonderful mix of
compositions. His new album of all original compositions “LIFESONG” is
available online at CD Baby, ITunes and Amazon.com as well as his website bobdanzilomusic.com. He makes his home in
Kennebunk, Maine and is an active member of the Maine Songwriters Association and Nashville Songwriters Association International.
