PLAYER was formed in 1977 and signed to RSO Record. They recorded their first self-titled album and in January 1978 they had their first #1 hit with "Baby Come Back", knocking the BeeGees out of the #1 slot on the Billboard charts for 7 weeks. They followed up with their next three albums Danger Zone (1978), Room With A View (1980), and Spies of Life (1982): touring with Eric Clapton /Slowhand Tour, Heart/Dog And Butterfly Tour/, Boz Scaggs/Silk Degrees Tour, Kenny Loggins and Gino Vanelli, as well as Little River Band.

After Player broke up in 1982, lead vocalist Peter Beckett went on to write and sing movie and television songs, as well as write for such famous artists as Olivia Newton John, Kenny Rodgers, Janet Jackson, the Commodores, to name a few. Bass player Ronn Moss went into acting starring for 25 years on the CBS TV soap 'The Bold and The Beautiful'. Keyboardist JC Crowley continued writing songs for other recording artists as well as persuing a country music career. Drummer John Friesen is now in video production.

Peter Beckett also toured with Little River Band for 8 years in the 90's and was featured singing "baby Come Back". In 2000, Peter and Ronn got back together performing with an all-star lineup from Reo Speedwagon, Ambrosia, Little River Band, and Mister Mister. They have continued to perform all over the US with newest members JC Love(Keyboards), Rob Math(lead guitar), and Craig Pilo (drums).
